After pregnancy, unsightly veins can appear on the legs, trunk or face. These may be small spider veins or varicose veins in the legs which are not only unsightly but can cause pain and fatigue.
In addition, small blood vessels like veins and capillaries can break or become larger than normal. This can happen especially in people with a disorder known as telangiectasia. The areas of the body where this occurs most often include the thighs, around the knees, on the calves or the ankles. It can also occur on the chest, back or arms. Fortunately, we have a choice of therapies to get rid of these unsightly veins.

Laser treatment for veins works by directing very strong bursts of light on to unwanted veins on your face and body that cause the vein to gradually fade and eventually disappear. Lasers are very direct and accurate and only affect the area being treated; as such they are a very safe treatment. However, be warned that not all skin types and colors can always be safely treated with lasers. Our doctors would be able to assess your suitability for this treatment. The treatment is usually very quick and can be likened to the sensation of being flicked with an elastic band. Alternatives to this treatment include sclerotherapy, micro-sclerotherapy and microwave treatment.
